1974 Gremlin, The classic car I wish I had back..

In 1974 I was stationed on Camp Pendelton in southern California. I had just reenlisted and gotten orders for Aviation school in Memphis Tenn. I needed a new car, so off to San Diego we went. The 74 Gremlins really was a good looking car, so we traded a 1964 Ford van in on a brand new little 1974 Gremlin. I couldn't afford all the fancy expensive options so I got a baby blue with the Levi interior with the 232 six cylinder auto trans. No frills or nothing just plain old stock everything. I had a wrecked 1969 Shelby GT500 at home so the wheels came off that and went on the Gremlin. Improvement but not quit right. So, aluminum honey comb wheels 8" front 10" back with G60's front and N50' back went on. All show no go isn't good so In goes a Chet Herbert full race cam, "old guys will remember who he was" ,next the head gets shaved 60 thousand and it gets bored out 60 thousand. Changed the little two barrel carb to a big two barrel carb and hotter ignition and put on a split manifold. Trans got beefed up next then I had to change the suspension just a little. Last but not least we put on a set of Thrush aluminum side pipes and flared out the rear fender wells like the Trans Am had. End result was a little sleeper that turned alot of heads and would really show them what it had.
